E127: Cold, Hard Winter in Focus
Show Notes

A colder than expected weather pattern is shaping up for much of the country heading into the winter months, and the slight shift in outlook is offering some hope that a cold, hard winter might be the start of a shifting pattern towards less heat and more precipitation.

To help us put the forecasts into context, team lead for Ag Weather John Baranick joins us today to discuss the long range outlook that DTN’s analysts are tracking, and what that might mean as farmers across the country continue to reckon with record dryness. We’ll talk about the evolving La Nina in particular, and what this rare third year could mean for the season ahead.

We’ll also tackle weather conditions in Latin America and what they could mean for the Southern continents' upcoming crop, the effects of late season tropical storms, and what to watch as we ring in 2023, from Mississippi river levels to snowpack.
